Welcome to G.S. Henley
G.S. Henley Reliability Ride 2015
Sunday 1 March, Market Place, Henley (near Starbucks)
Sign on 08:00 to 08:20am
This year we are again running a Reliability Ride for Club members and guests. This is a traditional style of cycling event; IT IS NOT A RACE. It is an event all Club members can (should!) ride – it is designed to cover all abilities – the most reliable rider is not the fastest…
Reliability Rides are NON-COMPETITIVE events designed to test fitness on an individual basis. No helmet no ride. The aim is to complete the 90 km course at the stated speed; different groups will target different speeds to achieve:
Group 1 – target speed of 24 kph – start time: 8:30 am
Group 2 – target speed of “faster” – start time: 8:40 am and 8:45 am
Group 3 – target speed of “faster still” – start time: 8:50 am
Based on last year we expect to split Group 2; slightly quicker riders off first at 8:40 am and slightly slower ones at 8:45 am.
In all rides the most “reliable rider” is the rider who most closely hits the target speed/time. On the day we will issue the exact speeds and target times for all the groups. You choose the group you ride in – so you challenge yourself against a set target.
There will be a modest entry fee on the line of £3 (£2 goes to British Cycling)and we will aim to publish results after the event on the website. Please be in the Market Square in good time to sign on – signing on will close at 8:20am sharp.
The route is detailed at: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2183698

Wessex CX Round 9: Harcourt Hill, Oxford
Haute Route - Paul Hamblett Wins Triple Crown
After 21 mountain stages over 23 days, Paul has won the Haute Route Triple Crown in convincing fashion. Paul was 4th on GC the first week (Dolomites / Swiss Alps), 8th the second week (French Alps) and an amazing 2nd in the third week (Pyrenees) - this against riders who were competing for just the week in question, not riding all 3 weeks!! An incredible achievement, and this makes Paul one of the top amateur riders in Europe, if not the world, where climbing and endurance are key. When the road rises to meet him there are not many who can stay on his wheel.
G.S. Henley win Oxfordshire Road Race League
Lydia Brookes won Ladies League outright. Great team effort by all riders to win the overall series of 6 races.

Giro Sardegna 20-25 April 2014
A G.S. Henley team entered the Giro Sardegna, Italy 6 day stage race from 20-25th April 2014. Paul Elcock, Lydia Brookes, Paul Hamblett, Pete Harrison, Richard Moss, Nick Cooper, Nick Roux and John Rayner raced while Antonia Moss (with baby Hugo in the trailer behind), Rosie Rayner and Richard Locke rode the "Tour" for supporters.
It was obvious from a brutal Stage 1 that we were in for a tough week. Highlights were a 2nd outright on Stage 2 for Paul Hamblett with Paul H. 3rd on GC in M3 age group, just pipping Paul Elcock in 4th.
