Reading Cycling Club will be running a Mini-Gran Fondo event on Sunday 27th of May, and have graciously invited GS Henley.
The aim of this ride is to reach the checkpoint at
the checkpoint at Walbury Hill car park
*Please confirm you are coming by the 24th of May*.
Registration and start will be in Reading by the Old Town Hall (RG1 1DA) between 8:30am and 9:00am. Riders will start the event in small groups straight away after registering. Like any Sportive event, there will be no official leaders and everyone is responsible for finding the way to the checkpoint.
At registration you’ll be given a printed number which you have to return at the checkpoint.
At the checkpoint you’ll find a well stocked feed station with energy cereal bars/bananas/etc. to fill your pockets for the return leg and sport drinks/water to top up your bottle.
We will also have a few inner tubes available, some basic tools and a track pump.
The checkpoint will shut at 12:00pm (or earlier if everyone reached it).
We will charge a fee of £5 to cover the cost of the food.
Please find 2 recommended routes (gpx files to follow):
– The “Mini” Gran Fondo is not a race, there will be no chip timing, the route is not signposted, no marshalling, no mechanical help.
*You need to be self sufficient*.
– To give an idea of the overall distance, routes begin and end in Reading. However there is no finish line defined, so practically riders can find the most convenient way home after reaching the checkpoint.
– The Mini Gran Fondo qualifies for the RCC points classification: 5 points for registering + 5 points for reaching the checkpoint + the usual bonus point for wearing the RCC kit.
Please let me know if you are coming beforehand so we can cater for everyone.
